CRIS BRUCH (American, born 1957) lives and works on Vashon Island, Washington.

He earned a BFA in ceramics/sculpture at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. Following completion of an MFA and MA at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Bruch moved to Seattle in 1986.

Bruch has received numerous awards including the Northwest Major Works Award from the Seattle Arts Commission; the Betty Bowen Memorial Award; residencies at Ateliers Hoherweg, Dusseldorf, Germany; an Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Wisconsin; a Pollock Krasner Foundation award; and the James W. Ray Venture Project Award through the Frye Art Museum|Artist Trust Consortium, among others.

Bruch has exhibited nationally and in Germany at venues including Flottmann-Hallen, Herne, Germany; Boise Art Museum, Idaho; Salt Lake Art Center, Utah; Suyama Space, Seattle; Galerie Ute Parduhn, Dusseldorf, Germany; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; and the Frye Art Museum, Seattle.

His work is represented in public and private collections such as the Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington; Stadtsparkasse Dusseldorf, Germany; Yale University Art Gallery; New York Public Library Print Collection; Frye Art Museum, Seattle; Western Washington University Sculpture Collection; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; Microsoft Corporation; the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; and the Tang Museum and Art Gallery, Skidmore College, New York.

Public art commissions include sculptures for the University of Washington, Seattle; the Wayne Lyman Morse United States Courthouse in Eugene, Oregon; 5th Avenue Transit Corridor, Portland, Oregon; Brightwater Environmental Education and Community Center, Snohomish County, Washington; Vulcan Northwest, Seattle; Sound Transit, Seattle; and North Seattle College. From 2013 through 2018, Bruch served as a member of the 4Culture Public Art Advisory Committee, Seattle.

Bruch is represented by the Greg Kucera Gallery in Seattle.
