Department of Forensic Morphology Annex, 2004, stainless steel, 12’ x 28’ x 9’6”
Commissioning Agency: Washington State Art Commission/University of Washington
Location: University of Washington, Seattle, WA
The Department of Forensic Morphology Annex is located near a main pedestrian entrance to the University of Washington, Seattle campus. The sculpture references two other nearby structures—the Jacobsen Observatory and the Kirsten Wind Tunnel. The frame and skin of the large stainless steel sculpture are interdependent approximations of complex curvature. The title references a field of study that has yet to exist—when the study of forensic morphology comes to academia, it will no doubt begin life in an annex.
