Universal Adaptor, 2009, installed 2011, bronze, 78 x 195 x 78”
Commissioning Agency: Vulcan Real Estate
Location: Downtown Seattle, Westlake and Denny Streets
Universal Adaptor is a large cast bronze sculpture installed in an area of Seattle that is undergoing radical redevelopment. The form is based on a piece of throw-away plastic, and has the appearance of a relic. Due to the size and placement of the sculpture, it may appear that this strange form was too heavy to move and had to be accommodated. The form both comments on the transience of packaging (and architecture), and memorializes it.
